Modernist Mansion in the Aiguamolls

We are pleased to present you with this exclusive property, consisting of a vast rural plot of several hectares surrounding this majestic modernist farmhouse dating back to before the 16th century, located in a privileged enclave in the heart of the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, one of the region’s most valuable and protected natural areas.

Along with the plot, the historic manor house of Cortal Avinyó is included, a well-known building in Alt Empordà, originally referenced under the name Cipriano Avinyó, with a first testament dating back to 1557. This unique and spectacular farmhouse was reconstructed in phases, with its last major renovation completed in 1906 by renowned modernist architect Josep Azemar, who incorporated that particular modernist elegance while preserving the traditional architectural splendor of the area and reflecting the centuries of history that have consolidated the great heritage value currently attributed to it.

As of today, the property consists of 2,100 square meters of constructed area in three buildings, distributed between a barn, a corral, and the original Cortal, which, together with its attached rectangular modernist building featuring three turrets and a magnificent tower, culminates in its main hall with breathtaking views of the entire region.

At present, its operational infrastructure includes thirteen double bedrooms, five of which have exclusive balconies, six bathrooms, five spacious lounges with a spectacular fireplace, a 20-square-meter kitchen, four floors, an elevator, a magnificent interior patio, and three terraces that border this awe-inspiring architectural masterpiece. In the historically significant reconstruction, it is also worth highlighting the chapel erected in honor of the patron saint of the Cortals of Castelló d’Empúries, as well as its extensive garden and outdoor areas, which have transformed the surroundings into a landscaped area with native species and resting areas, surrounded by the property’s exterior wall, restored in 2020 with traditional techniques. This restoration also included a small wooden pergola. The magnitude of the land surrounding the estate guarantees absolute privacy, while its proximity to strategic points on the Costa Brava and easy access to essential services increase its value as an investment.
